Green Initiatives

Acme Castings holds a long-standing commitment to conducting business in a responsible and ethical manner. Going forward, we will only deepen our approach by continuing to integrate social and environmental responsibility into every aspect of our business.

Today, Acme Castings pursues the following initiatives:

		Recycled Foundry Sand (RFS)
		Vegetable Oil Vehicles (VOV)
		Vitrification

Recycled Foundry Sand (RFS)

RFS is a byproduct of the ferrous and nonferrous metal casting industry. Acme Castings has committed to recycling 100% of its used sand. While other foundries may truck their sand to a dump for disposal, Acme Castings has developed a green process whereby 50% of its RFS is reused in our system while the remaining 50% is reclaimed and recycled in the construction industry.

Vegetable Oil Vehicles (VOV)

Waste Vegetable Oil (WVO) is nothing but the used vegetable oil or cooking oil found in almost every kitchen. Many restaurants throw out WVO as they think it's of no use. But Acme Castings vehicles utilize a fuel modification system that allow diesel vehicles to run on WVO. By doing so, Acme Castings reduces waste from restaurants, produces fewer green house emissions -- like carbon dioxide and sulfur -- and thus reduces pollution in our environment.

Vitrification

Acme Castings has determined the wastes from metal finishing operations that are potentially destructive to the environment, and takes precautionary steps to contain it within durable glass thereby removing the possibility of hydrolytic dissolution.
